Jr. Mechanical Designer

MAD is looking for a Jr. Mechanical Designer to join our growing team. The successful candidate must have working knowledge of AutoCAD, great customer service skills, self-starter, proven problem-solving skills; all while working in a fast pace environment.

Primary Function:

The Jr. Mechanical Designer is responsible for defined work or projects with moderate complexity. In this role the Jr. Mechanical Designer will follow an individual work plan, meet day to‐day short‐term objectives, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. They will work closely with project managers and manufacturing personnel during both design and fabrication stages.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering
  • 1-2 years experience in mechanical designing / drafting
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent computer skills and MS Office intermediate proficiency
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 
  • SolidWorks knowledge an asset
  • Experience with sheet metal component design.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and electrical principles.
  • Ability to produce quality drawings at expected volume

Responsibilities: 

  • Review design requirements, drawings and schedules to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Deliver technical solutions using defined processes as part of a team.
  • Develop and prepare engineering drawing package for customer approval and fabrication.
  • Conduct basic assembly for prototype and golden sample.
  • Focused on developing expertise in a specific discipline or function.
  • Follows individual work plans to meet day‐today short‐term objectives.
  • Resolves issues through immediate action or short‐term planning.
  • Build technical depth in mechanical domain.    
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ensure quality control, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety.

This is a salaried position working out of our Mississauga, Ontario location, at least 42.5 hours weekly. Hours are typically 8:30am to 5:00pm with flexibility.
