Mechanical Designer

MAD is looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our growing team.

Primary Function:

Mechanical Designer is responsible for the design of our custom, job-specific signal fixtures; while working closely with project managers and manufacturing personnel during both the design and fabrication of units.

The successful candidate must have working knowledge of AutoCAD, great customer service skills, self-starter, proven problem-solving skills; all while working in a fast-paced environment. 

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineer or equivalent experience 
  • At least 2- 5 years of experience in Mechanical Designing
  • Strong understanding of elevator interiors and fixtures
  • Excellent aptitude in mechanical design
  • Excellent computer skills and MS Office intermediate proficiency
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for drawing and layout
  • SolidWorks knowledge an asset
  • Experience with sheet metal component manufacturing preferred
  • Strong knowledge of electronics and electrical principles
  • Ability to produce quality drawings at expected volume


  • Develop and prepare engineering drawings, plans, diagrams or layouts.
  • Create fixture panel layouts based on project requirements.
  • Create approval drawings for customers.
  • Create manufacturing drawings.
  • Submit drawings for approval and provide technical support to fabrication and assembly.
  • Develop “flats” for laser and punch machines.
  • Conduct basic assembly for prototype and trial production pieces.
  • Manage mechanical design processes to ensure timely delivery of design and integration into production.
  • Design, implement and deliver product changes to support sales, marketing, production and service.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Quick-thinking and self-motivated.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Able to lift up to 15lbs, may work in hot areas 5%, noise 5%.
  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety as well as active participation in 5S activities in work area.

This is a salaried position working out of our Mississauga, Ontario location, at least 42.5 hours weekly.
