Supplier Development Manager

MAD is looking for a Supplier Development Manager to join our growing team.

Primary Function:

The Supplier Development Manager will be responsible and accountable for the identification, definition and implementation of strategic initiatives with MAD’s supply base to:

  • Support business goals, operations or other requirements
  • Create a new paradigm in supply chain management, striving for people, processes and supplier that will not only be best in class for our group, our industry and our size, but will far exceed them.
  • Make our supply chain and related processes a competitive advantage
  • The best Supplier Development Managers have strong and energetic personalities – they know what they want and are not afraid of obstacles. They combine great soft skills (listening, negotiating, solving problems), great technical aptitude, and very strong organizational and prioritization skills. They are customer focused, strategic and strive for continued excellence.

Responsibilities

Strategic Initiatives (related to our supply base or business processes around them) not limited to:

  • Develop productive relationships with suppliers, leverage their strengths and create mutually beneficial partnership that strengthen MAD’s position competitively.
  • Identify and implement improvement to business processes related to materials and supply chain to improve efficiency, accuracy and quality
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement related to inventory/ stocking processes and amounts
  • Implement and Maintain Standard Supplier Management Practices as required/ appropriate (Contracts, score cards, audit)
  • Lead Supplier selections for proper service, quality and price balance to support business growth
  • Lead “Make vs Buy” decisions with operations stakeholders
  • Lead outsourcing activities and supplier transitions
  • Support Operations as required and be an escalation point for Buyers
  • Be an active member of the leadership team defining direction and strategies to not only grow MAD, but grow DMG group overall.
  • Develop expertise on our companies and industry to provide same support for all our businesses globally.
  • Create (with MAD) a new paradigm in how a small business manages a supply chain that not only become jewel of DMG group, but a best practice or case study for other businesses our size. A competitive advantage, a key point in our sales pitches.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in leadership roles with proven ability to deliver desired results
  • Technical understanding of manufacturing life cycle
  • Demonstrate Lean Supply Chain concept to implementation
  • Intermediate to Expert level MS Excel
  • Strong data mining skills, experienced digging into database tables to get required information
  • International procurement, supplier/ vendor experience
  • Strategically and results focused - Experience in setting targets and ability to uphold accountability with stakeholders
  • Prior experience with ERP or equivalent process and data management software
  • Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated change management
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with complex variables.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to create and maintain client relationships
  • Experience with Sheet Metal, custom manufacturing an asset
  • Ability to leverage on relationships to get results
