Keep riders safe with VMS

  • A passenger places an emergency call by pressing the phone/help pushbutton
  • Through the existing emergency phone system, a call is placed to the on-site attendant or monitoring station
  • At the same time, a MosaicONE VMS tunnel is opened
  • The attendant/monitoring station answers the phone and begins a verbal conversation with the passenger
  • If the passenger does NOT respond, the attendant/monitoring station can visually confirm if there is a passenger in the car, and that it was not an accidental button press
  • If passenger is present and has not responded verbally, the attendant/monitoring station can try to communicate with them by posting messages on the Matisse position indicator
  • Passengers can either respond verbally or by pressing door open/close pushbuttons to answer “yes” or “no”
  • If there is still no response (or unable to respond i.e. unconscious), with the visual confirmation of a passenger present, attendant/monitoring station can dispatch appropriate emergency personnel

How the system works

External Monitoring

  • The system monitors the phone/help button through a second contact.
  • When the passengers press the button, the system sees the “press” and notifies the MosaicONE Cloud.
  • MosaicONE flags the request and waits for an attendant/monitoring station to connect to the system.
  • When the attendant/monitoring station accepts the request, an encrypted tunnel between the monitoring station PC and the elevator is created. This can be done either through a predefined link, link sent via email, a web portal using phone-specified audio code, or in MosaicONE call center software.
  • Through this tunnel, video and messages are transmitted between elevator and monitoring station.
>60ft Solution / Internal Monitoring

  • On-site personnel can access the system through a local interface for buildings taller than 60ft without external Internet connection.
  • On-site personnel can view all elevators and interact via touchscreen when located at FCC or lobby location for Emergency Responders. Fireman can use system with gloved hand.
  • On-site Security location can interact via a dedicated computer.
  • Live video of all elevators available to view at quick glance to assess the entire situation quickly and efficiently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I provide my own Internet connection?

Yes, Buildings can use their own Internet connection. Code requires that there is 4 hours of emergency battery backup power on the system. An Internet connection is required for the system to work. The entire network needs to be on the 4 hours of backup, including switches, routers and modems.

Is the system secure from a cybersecurity aspect?

The MosaicONE VMS is completely behind a firewall. There are no open ports and all devices are invisible from anyone outside of the network. As a result, you cannot call into an elevator; the call must be initiated from inside the elevator cab for the monitoring station to have access to the system.

If a call is disconnected, can monitoring station reconnect?

Yes. For a short period of time, if a call is disconnected, the monitoring station will be able to call back/reconnect. After this time, a call would need to be re-initiated from inside the elevator.

Installation Requirements

  • The MosaicONE VMS can be purchased either as part of a fixture package (pre-integrated into COP), a kit to be integrated into 3rd party fixtures, or as a standalone fixture. In all cases, it is a complete system with minimum field effort required.
